Aegon UK calls for doctors to use electronic reporting when submitting medical evidence, to enable people to get the financial protection they need in place as quickly and smoothly as possible.
Aegon reveals it has been working with Niche Health’s iGPR proposition for the last year to pilot electronic GP reports. So far it has found that over 61% of electronic reports are being returned within 9 days, which is 50% quicker than the paper-based process.
Stephen Crosbie, Protection Director at Aegon UK, said:
“As a protection provider we’re keen to use electronic reporting to provide a smoother and more secure service to our customers, improving the way we obtain medical information from GPs and streamlining the underwriting process. Doctors can benefit by using electronic reporting too.
“The system enables doctors to save time and reduce manual paperwork while improving the consistency of reporting. It also automatically removes references to third parties and potentially sensitive information in the reports, preventing GPs from inadvertently providing insurers with any data they don’t actually need to see.
“With many surgeries having access to iGPR, switching to electronic reporting is a simple process that takes around 30 minutes to complete”

Dr David Cooper, has been using electronic reporting since July 2016. He said: “iGPR is easy to use and safer than current processes with the simple redaction function. I found it much faster than the previous paper-based method, and payments are rapidly received.”
