The content management system (CMS), built in the latest version of industry leading open source solution Drupal enables CCGs/CSUs/Trusts/STPs to quickly and cost effectively create and manage a website that provides information on health-care services for the public.
Brighton based digital experts, miggle have been working with Brighton & Hove CCG since 2013 delivering award winning technology solutions that have helped engage city residents with relatively small expenditure.
The CMS being offered as a free starter kit to CCGs is a direct outcome of the work that miggle did for Brighton & Hove CCG. Starting with a public facing site miggle were able to merge in the existing GP intranet, as well as create a staff intranet and various microsites, helping keep costs down and build times short.
The technology of choice was Drupal due to its advanced user management tools and flexible code base that enables a single website to act as both a public facing information portal as well as handle functionality like the Joint Formulary prescribing section and act as a repository for managing digital documentation .
Keen to repurpose this technology and to support the NHS in its aim of sharing resources, miggle have developed a distribution model based on the Brighton & Hove public facing website and are inviting CCGs in the market for a new website to utilise this CMS for free.
The software includes a news section, allows for the upload of documents, is integrated with NHS Choices and meets all accessibility and NHS brand guidelines and requirements.
To take advantage of this free CMS, CCG members are invited to download the code and hand it over to their internal development team to customise and host.
