Patientrack chosen by fourth New Zealand District Health Board

The fourth New Zealand District Health Board (DHB) has chosen Patientrack technology in a little over 12 months.

Patientrack is fast to deploy and has been built to easily integrate with existing hospital systems. Michelle Nicholson-Burr, eVitals clinical champion, Counties Manukau DHB, said: “The results and the feedback from other DHBs were compelling and led us to opt for Patientrack to deliver the benefits we sought. When bedside observations can be taken, recorded, and calculated efficiently and quickly at the bedside, there are tangible benefits. We will have greater visibility if a patient is deteriorating and we can spend our time with them, instead of filling out paper charts.

“Patientrack will help create a more efficient workforce as our nurses, doctors and allied health team can be where they are needed. Our aim is to enter the data once, but use it many times through integration with other clinical systems and use of mobile technology.”

The system is not only replacing outdated paper-based observations within the hospitals, it will be used by staff and clinicians at Counties Manukau DHB to provide a number of electronic nursing assessments which will also be accessible via mobile devices at the bedside.

Clinicians will have access to accurate and real-time observations data on patients across the hospital. It also provides increased visibility and reporting on improved levels of compliance with hospital protocols, as well as reliable data for operational, planning and performance improvement.

Donald Kennedy, managing director at Patientrack, said: “Improving patient outcomes is a fundamental objective for healthcare organisations across the world. It is heartening to see another DHB in New Zealand choose Patientrack to deliver important benefits for patients and staff.”

Rollout to the first wards at Counties Manukau DHB is set for mid-2017.
