NHS Digital has published the first NHS e-Referral Service integration roadmap to explain where and when they will be supporting greater integration through the use of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). This will help businesses plan and identify areas where they may be able to contribute. More information in the eRS API Integration Library.
- API Integration – phase 1 has provided the foundations to support clinical system integration. The initial Clinical Referral Information (CRI) APIs have been evaluated and are now being piloted by suppliers. The aim is to support the transfer of clinical documents within hospital clinical systems.
- API Integration – phase 2 This alpha phase will enhance the API tools to support referral creation and decision support systems integration.
- Further planned integration will include ‘service search’ and ‘clinical triage’ to provide external visibility of the directory of services and to allow providers to extend their workflow integration with the service.
